Having begun the summer working at a flower nursery/greenhouse, and ending it freelance gardening, I’ve learned a heck of a lot more about flowers than I knew before…And that’s even after earning my certificate in floral design a couple of years ago!

If I can ever get around to throwing a party post-elopement (stay tuned, NY/NJ peeps, there is a Christmas-time engagement party being planned as we speak), then I can most certainly handle the centerpieces. Snooping around the internet, I came upon the lovely floral company ink & peat and was inspired by a few of their designs:

One of the things I love about the North Country is how many craft fairs there are! At the recent St. Lawrence River Rustic Show, while Butch looked at the manly woodworking, I was immediately drawn to a booth containing the amazing jewelry of Karin Alisa Houben.

No, I don’t mean I’m considering a nude wedding…just a rustic, natural theme. I’ve been researching locations in New Jersey, and while a special day among perfectly manicured flower gardens would be amazing, I’m not sure if it’s in my budget… What might work better is a simple lodge in one of the state parks – a blank slate sure, but what better place to go DIY-crazy? If lodge is the way we go, I’m envisioning a summer camp/rustic/naturalist theme of sorts….
